Lets face it, there are A LOT of different dog bones and treats available today. There are even dog bone "alternatives" with warning labels saying "NOT MEANT FOR CONSUMPTION". Right. Try giving a 4 year old a chicken nugget "alternative" made of nylon and chicken flavor, and explain to them that they can't eat it. Let us break it down for you. When you're trying to decide what to give your dog, whether as a treat or to encourage appropriate chewing, remember the old adage; Keep it simple.....The best possible items you can give to your dog are always the simplest. At the shop, we have 5 fantastic options that consist of 1 single ingredient:

If you've been in to see us, you've seen our "treat bar". We are proud to stock it with unique selections from Great Dog Co., based out of Minnesota. Here's what you should know:

1. They source and manufacture all their products in the USA and as close to Minnesota as possible.

2. The beef products are sourced from small, Midwestern family farms.

3. They only use grass and range fed Bison. These animals have never been given added hormones or unnecessary antibiotics.

4. All their products are made from a single ingredient, never contain preservatives, stabilizers or irradiation and are cooked in their own juices to human-grade standards in human-grade State and Federally inspected facilities.

Another one of our favorite single ingredient treats to recommend is Hyde Park's own Meaty Mugs. Regina, the owner of Meaty Mugs, is more passionate about her product than we can possibly attempt to put into words, so we won't bother. Her single ingredient items are sourced locally and made with love in her own home. It really doesn't get any better than that.

The same can be said for Newburgh's own Pirate Paws Barkery, owned by our friend Karen. She was tired of the nonsense available on the shelves and decided it was time to source locally. Her thinly sliced chicken jerky strips have been a huge hit with both small and large breed dogs!

If you've got your dog on a raw diet, we have single ingredient freeze dried treats to pair along with it. Sourced in the mid-west, the lamb or turkey options have also turned into a favorite treat option.

Finally, there are the antlers. Whenever we hear that a dog is tough chewer, we'll always recommend an antler. We get ours from the good folks at Rocky Mountain Antler Chews. These babies are the real deal, naturally shed and collected in Colorado. These antlers are completely unprocessed! They will not crack, they will not splinter, and they will not stain the couch or carpet that your dog is chewing them on. Dogs absolutely love the bone marrow inside the antler, and will benefit from from the calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, iron, zinc and manganese.

Like we said....Simplicity
